"Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming the way we work, learn, and create—and libraries are no exception. But what exactly is generative AI, and how can library professionals explore its potential in a practical, hands-on way? This interactive session is designed for beginners who want to experiment with AI tools in a safe and supportive environment.
Attendees will get a guided introduction to ChatGPT and some other generative AI tools, with a focus on ethical considerations and practical applications for libraries. Through live demonstrations and hands-on exercises, participants will explore how AI can support tasks such as basic administrative tasks, reader advisory, programming ideas, and staff efficiency.
By the end of the session, attendees will leave with a foundational understanding of generative AI, ideas for integrating it into their library work, and the confidence to continue experimenting. No prior AI experience is required—just curiosity and a willingness to explore!"
